How we discovered subatomic particles at the CERN and how we fund big science [Videos]

 


In case you are curious about how we discovered the subatomic particles that tries to answer the fundamental questions about our universe, Cleo does one of the best visuals during her visit to Large Hadron Collider at the CERN. She also goes over how a simple bump allowed scientists to prove the Higgs Boson at the LHC, winning him the Nobel Prize. I personally am super excited for the biggest Hadron Collider that they are building so we can conduct even cooler experiments and uncover more secrets of our universe.

All of these requires investments at a scale that are only possible through taxpayer funds. Private enterprises require return on investments where there is money to be made. I recently saw Neil Degrasse Tyson make this clear on this channel and I wholeheartedly agree with it when it comes to SpaceX (which is a private company). All the more reason we need educated and well informed citizens who can vote for leadership that understands science.
