Explained: How over 2 billion Muslims celebrate Ramadan

Over 2 billion Muslims will be fasting from Sunrise to Sunset (depending on Moon Sighting). It is helpful to understand this spiritual month when the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SA), how we are extra kind and generous to others through charity (Zakaat), and focus on discipline and on those who are less fortunate than us. Here is a helpful Ramadan Calendar so you know when the five prayers are and when Sehri (start of fasting) and Iftaar (breaking of fasting) is. Remember that one of the goals during Ramadan is to read the Holy Quran in its entirety and there is a special Taraweeh prayer every evening that can last a long time, so everyone might be extra tired. A great way to slow down during this spiritual month and be extra kind to others.

Enjoy this helpful resource from WeAreTeachers on how to support students during Ramadan. This FAQ is also super helpful. Want to plan for Ramadan in the future? Know that because it’s a lunar calendar, it’s always moves up 12 days each year, and in 2030, we are expecting Ramadan twice in the same year Inshallah.
