Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Soccer balls are so high tech that they need to be charged

Soccer will never be the same with all sorts of tracking abilities, sensors, and technology packed into the soccer ball from Adidas used for the Qatar World Cup 2022. So advanced that you need to charge the soccer balls. Technology, when used appropriately, can ensure reduced bias that we all have - whether implicit or explicit. The future of sports tech is exciting, and Qatar puts it on display since they can afford to spend $300 Billion for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

They contain Ultra-wideband (UWB) sensors and Inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors to obtain the position of the ball and the granular movement in three dimensions. This is some next-generation sports tech never before used and soccer will never be the same. The only challenge is that you need to charge them before every match. [Science Times]

Personally, I also appreciate the fact that the high-tech soccer ball is called "Al Rihla" by Adidas - which is the Arabic word for "The Journey".
